Behind the Scenes : Trey Parker and Matt Stone   |   05 July 2005

On the MPAA movie ratings board

Parker: "They only care about sex. They don't care about violence. [The R-rated DVD] is dirtier because of the MPAA. This isn't the uncut [DVD] version; it's the MPAA version."

Stone: "We have no friends at the MPAA. I went to a couple of Academy Award parties, and no one would talk to me."

On the satiric tone of Team America

Parker: "This is The Day After Tomorrow, but you got high. This movie is really about how movie scores lie to you. You just add Hans Zimmer music to action scenes, and they become hilarious."

On their favorite musicals

Parker: "I'm totally old school, If they're redoing Oklahoma! on Broadway, I'd totally go see it. But Les Miz is probably my favorite."

Stone: "Avenue Q [which stars puppets, as does Team America] is probably the best thing I've seen recently,"

On Sean Penn's infamous fax to the filmmakers because Team America makes fun of him and other peace-loving celebrities

Parker: "Sean Penn's the only one really stupid enough to put anything down on paper."

On South Park and Team America's kid appeal

Stone: "I would let my kids watch this stuff before I would let them watch Full House and become stupid."
